Today’s guest is Dr. Juan Camacho, an interventional radiologist at Radiology Associates of Florida/Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System. Trained at Emory University, he has worked in renowned academic institutions for the past 10 years. Dr. Camacho has a clinical and research focus in locoregional therapies for the treatment of benign andmalignant tumors, and developed the IR ENT service line in collaboration with Endocrinology and Surgical services in the institutions where he has served. During his prior appointment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, he designed a translational model to ablate thyroid microcarcinomas and was part of the first ablate/resect trial on the subject in the US. Today’s episode will cover a new topic on this podcast, Thyroid ArterialEmbolization (TAE): A nonsurgical treatment option for very large or hyperactive thyroid nodules.
